beginning guitar lessons

Iivo and Laurie began their foray into guitar instruction in the late 1980s while students at the College of William and Mary. Since that time they have successfully mentored hundreds of students in the arena of acoustic folk guitar as employed in the context of traditional and contemporary worship leading.

Iivo and Laurie homeschooled their own four children, and they also taught many other homeschool students weekly through the Acoustic Folk Guitar courses taught at the KEYS homeschool enrichment program.

Iivo serves as the Director of Worship and Arts and the weekly worship leader at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach. He has also served as an instrumentalist at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Norfolk and as the weekly worship leader at New Life Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach. Laurie was the worship coordinator at New Life Presbyterian Church and has served as guitarist, pianist, and vocalist in all of these contexts.

Currently, they are offering three levels of group guitar instruction, with opportunities for students to continue privately upon completion. Private lessons are also available for beginners, if preferred.
