Course Expectations (Acoustic Folk Guitar)
ACOUSTIC FOLK GUITAR ENSEMBLE
Course Expectations and Information for Students and Parents
We will be proceeding more or less at the pace of a guitar clinic. The information will be presented to you as a group during the weekly ensemble class, but the bulk of the work is up to each of you individually during the week. There will not be as much individual attention to you during an ensemble as there would be during a private lesson.
However, I will be able to observe you throughout the course of the hour we are together, and will be able to discern how you are doing.Should you desire at any point to dialogue about the course or your progress in it, please feel free to email me at ParksidePedagogy@gmail.com.
These are the things I will expect from you as we proceed:
* You need to have daily access to a guitar.
* You need to practice daily the things we learn each week.
* You need to maintain a notebook of the handouts I give you.
* You need to attend each class period. "Make-up" classes will be arranged only in the case of an excused absence.
If frequent absences become a problem, students may be charged a fee of $25/hour (the rate of private lessons) for
these make-up lessons.
* You need to have fun!
Whenever possible, I will provide simple recordings on our website of practice songs that may not be familiar to you. For copyright reasons, the link itself will not be published here but will be emailed to each student. Please contact me via email to be sent this link.
I am trusting that this ensemble will be an enriching experience for you, and that you will surprise yourself at how easy and fun it is to learn to play acoustic folk guitar!
