About the Instructor...
Laurie Sitterding graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1989 with a bachelor of arts degree in English and psychology. Her post-graduate education includes coursework toward a master of arts degree in biblical counseling and toward a master of education degree in educational therapy.
She is a certified teacher (English, Psychology, and Theatre Arts) with twenty-four years of teaching experience in both the public and private school arenas, nineteen of which include homeschooling her own four children.
Laurie began teaching beginning guitar and piano lessons in the early 1980s. Many of her students have gone on to play in a variety of worship contexts.
In the summer of 2006, Laurie completed the training to become a licensed NILD Educational Therapist and began to help students transform their learning difficulties into successes.
Since 2010, Laurie was been employed by HEAV (Home Educators Association of Virginia) as an editor; she is responsible for editing written copy and proofreading printed materials before they are published.
Laurie is excited to be teaching creative writing to middle school students at KEYS again this year.
