following a workshop of evan roth in 2011, where he had presented a .gif mashing tool he had developed, i became fascinated by the power of both the low quality of the .gif format, and the easy tools available in creating fun collages and visual loops. i always thought these small visuals of singular events could be combined to form a larger story or theme.
for this first lab assignment, i decided to make a .gif mash-up of my own. the theme for this video is the weekend.
the following steps were taken in order to create this video:
-browse the web and create a (large) database of .gifs
-use animated gif mashup! & image layering tool to create a database of .gif mash-ups
-screencapture each mash-up
-select an audio track
-sequence the mash-ups (using adobe premiere cs4)
-add minor effects
