Majors and Minors
In the Integrative Studies program you will design a program of advanced work in at least three areas. You can choose from existing majors and minors, or create a focus by taking 12 hours of advanced coursework in a particular major or minor.
A major or minor is a program of study, with both required classes and electives, designed to guide your study in a particular intellectual or professional area. Minor programs usually require fewer hours than a major. Majors and minors are offered through organizational units like departments and colleges. Up to date information about the programs that are currently offered and the requirements for each program can be found in the most recent NKU Catalog. You can also view the list of the courses offered in each program. In some cases a major is offered as either a BS (Bachelor of Science) or BA (Bachelor or Arts) degree. See the catalog description for the difference.
The Honors program can be used as one of your three areas. Consider using your Honors Capstone project as a substitute for the BAIS Capstone project.
A focus is 12 hours of upper division coursework (300 or above) from a particular major or minor program. Some programs require courses with a large number of pre-requisite courses. Work with your advisor to identify the areas that best fit your college or career goals.
