New NCEA Members

NCEA assists University of Nebraska Extension employees with opportunities for professional development, improvement and fellowship. NCEA supports an annual conference, scholarships, awards, extension employee benefits, relationships, with partner organizations, and has representation on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Faculty Senate.

Eligibility

All University of Nebraska-Lincoln Cooperative Extension employees with a baccalaureate degree and classified as Educator, Specialist or Extension Managerial-Professional Staff, or Extension Managerial-Professional Staff not possessing a baccalaureate degree but who were hired prior to November 17, 1989, are eligible for membership in NCEA. Administrative personnel are ineligible. Membership in NCEA is renewed on a yearly basis. The term of membership begins the first day of annual meeting and ends the day before the next annual meeting. Each member of NCEA pays the basic NCEA membership plus dues to one or more appropriate sections. Most sections, in turn, include national membership fees within their sectional dues structure. New employees are granted free membership to the umbrella NCEA organization from the time of employment through the day before the next annual meeting. This gives the new employee the opportunity to join one or more of the four sections of NCEA (Agriculture, Family & Consumer Sciences, 4-H, or Specialists), for the remainder of the current year by paying the national and state dues for that (those) sections. Joining the appropriate sections gives the employee access to the national organizations and many professional improvement opportunities. All eligible extension workers are encouraged to join or renew their membership at the time of the annual meeting. New employees who wish to join NCEA prior to the annual meeting as described above should send notice to the association treasurer.
