About NCEA

The Nebraska Cooperative Extension Association is an organization representing extension professionals of the University of Nebraska's cooperative extension.

Goals

    • Stimulate interest in and provide opportunities for professional improvement.
    • Assist in establishing and maintaining high standards for extension work.
    • Assist the members to fulfill the intent and purposes of the Cooperative Extension, University of Nebraska.
    • Promote UNL Faculty Senate functions.
    • Encourage mutual helpfulness, cooperation and fellowship among extension workers.
    • Foster extension work as a professional career.
    • Provide an inspirational climate for all its members and seek new ideas.
    • Promote the welfare of all its members.

Here is how we are working for you!

    • Working to improve the professionalism of extension staff and their programs serving Nebraska people.
    • Conducting an annual conference in which we can grow and learn.
    • Building a caring NCEA community and extending courtesies to Extension personnel and families.
    • Encouraging extension staff to use faculty development fellowships.
    • Alerting members to changes in health insurance and other fringe benefits.<
    • Expanding and improving the awards program.
    • Supporting extension interests and concerns in the UNL Faculty Senate.
    • Improving liaison between NCEA and related organizations.
    • Supporting continuing advances in 4-H programs to prepare youth for lives of greater service in this changing world.
    • Seeking proper recognition for extension paraprofessionals and support personnel.
    • Providing NCEA guidance as a courtesy to new workers.
    • Making extension promotional items available to all extension workers.

Some of NCEA's Accomplishments

    • Combined Extension workers into one organization to strengthen programs and relationships between county, district and staff.
    • Established a Dean's Advisory Team to dialogue with the director on items affecting Cooperative Extension in Nebraska.
    • Acknowledged outstanding services with section awards and promoted national recognition of extension workers for outstanding service.
    • Helped obtain county matching of TIAA/CREF benefits.
    • Established a Professional Improvement Fund from which scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to extension employees.
    • Encouraged administration to increase professional leave funds from $300 to $900 for a three year period.
