REPORT

Accomplishments:

- An orientation for approximately 20 new members was held at the 2015 Fall Conference. Educational and networking opportunities were provided during this session. New members received business card holders with the NCEA logo. New members were announced during one of the luncheons and received a membership certificate.

- Through networking, Extension employees were encouraged to join NCEA and join their respective sections.

Recommendations:

- Sponsor an evening event such as and NCEA Supper so that recruits could visit with leaders of sections. Do this during a new member orientation.

- Update existing brochures and design an introductory Prezi. Capture photos of NCEA in action.

- Have district representatives personally reach out to new employees in their district and invite them to join NCEA.

- Request $400 budget for the upcoming year to cover expenses of new member gifts.

Courtesy Committee Report

Jennifer Hansen – Committee Chair

Chair-elect: TBA

Goals:

1. Committee members to notify the whole courtesy committee when a courtesy notice has been extended (for information and accountability).

2. To have appropriate recognition of NCEA members upon receipt of special honors, marriage, addition of children, illness, retirement, resignation or reduction in force, and death of an immediate family member.

3. A committee member in each District to serve as a local contact.

4. Coordinate efforts with the Membership Chair on congratulating retirees.

5. Welcome newly hired employees to NCEA

6. Extend courtesies in appropriate situations for people outside of extension (ie state senators, Extension administration)

7. Request electronic membership list from NCEA treasurer.

Accomplishments

The membership list was organized so each committee member had a specific list of names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers. This clarified the duties of the committee and assured each committee member of their assignments.

Courtesy committee announcements reminders were shared in the NCEA newsletter and in Keeping Up, so that NCEA members and Extension staff would alert committee members of when a courtesy needed to be extended.

As needed committee members notified the whole courtesy committee when a courtesy notice was extended to help us with information and accountability.

Recommendations

Continue to extend appropriate recognition of NCEA members.

Continue to organize the membership list so each committee member has a specific list of names they are responsible for. NCEA members know who their District courtesy committee representatives are.

Send periodic email reminders to committee members and the entire NCEA membership requesting assistance in sharing information which would help this committee achieve their goals.

Appropriate Recognition has been defined by the committee as:

Cards will be sent to NCEA members for special honors, awards, marriage, addition of children, illness, as a new member, those leaving the system through reduction in force, retirement, resignation or death of a parent.

Memorial of $20 will be sent with a card to NCEA members for the death of a spouse or child.

Flowers or a plant will be sent to the family for the death of an NCEA member.
