Legislative and Administrative Relations Committee (LARC)
Planning Year: 2014
Goals:
1. Encourage local Extension units to meet or communicate regularly with County Supervisors/Commissioners, NU Regents, and State Senators, informing administration ahead of time on state level meetings. Awareness, programming updates, and building relationships will be the positive outcomes.
2. Encourage NCEA members to serve on a UNL Committee.
3. Continue our support of the Faculty Senate Schwartzkopf Fund [$1100].
4. Encourage NCEA members to be active in groups and organizations with interests in agriculture, families, community development and youth development to develop relationships and support for Extension and UNL.
5. Use email to keep NCEA members aware of issues concerning relationships with Administration, policy-makers and clientele.
6. Ask Faculty Senate representatives to monitor any changes to Emeriti status for Extension retirees.
Accomplishments:
NCEA continued their support of the Faculty Senate by again contributing to the Schwartzkopf Fund. This year, NCEA donated an additional one-time $400 to help with the replacement cost of a much-needed new computer for the UNL Faculty Senate office -- raising awareness and creating goodwill. Members of NCEA serve on the IANR Liaison Committee, the Faculty Senate, and the Dean’s Advisory Committee. Faculty Senate representatives continue to monitor the Emeriti status.
Recommendations:
Continue to create successful relationships with organizations and policy-makers. Ask for continued NCEA support of the Faculty Senate. Maintain positive and open communication with the Dean and Director.
