2016 Professional Improvement Committee

Mission

The mission of the NCEA Professional Improvement Committee is to provide opportunities to network, share, learn, and expand professional horizons at the joint NCEA/Extension Fall Conference and when opportunity may arise.

Goals for 2016

1. Merge the Professional Development and Conference Committee into one committee taking a seamless approach to the tasks presented to the combined Committee.

2. Continue working closely the Extension Leadership Team to address evaluation comments to guide the conference schedule and program content.

3. Ensure professional improvement opportunities of motivational, inspiring, and helpful presentations as well as subject matter topics to assist in the work of Extension Professionals.

4. Provide ample time and an environment conducive to networking and the showcasing of program highlights though increased professional development opportunities.

Action Plan

· Co-chairs serve on and work with Administrative Fall Conference Committee to discuss and plan the joint NCEA and Extension Fall Conference.

· Meet face-to-face or by conference call and communicate by email to receive additional input to feed into conference planning and the responsibilities that may be given to this committee.

Accomplishments for 2014

· Provided reminders of professional improvement opportunities/scholarships in Keeping Up and NCEA Listserv.

· Developed a list of recommended topics and potential presenters from UNL Extension and partners to present to the conference planning committee.

· The NCEA Professional Development committee had one representative on the Fall Conference Planning Committee who was Nicole Stoner

· The NCEA Professional Development Committee offered one pre-conference tour option to the Wolfden Dairy, Awarii Dunes Golf Club, The Wellness Center, and the Center for Rural Research and Development.

Awards or Scholarships:

· Offered 2 ($500) NCEA scholarships for professional development in the spring and have opened up for fall recipients.

o NCEA spring recipients: Colleen Pallas and Shelly Stitt.

· Will offer first-time attendee scholarships in the fall for NCEA members to attend the annual conference in the amount of up to $2,000 among all first-timers based upon receipts turned in.
