臺灣宜蘭當代樂坊 The Formosa Melody Music Center

The North Carolina Taiwanese Cultural Arts appreciate sincerely your attendance of the 2017 Asian Pacific Heritage Month Taiwanese American Heritage Week Performance The Sound from the Heart of the Homeland 從故鄉的心弦響起 at the Cary Arts Center  on Tuesday, May 22, 2017 featuring beautify unforgettable melodies in traditional instruments by the Formosa Melody Music Center from Yilan, Taiwan臺灣宜蘭當代樂坊.

Over 425 people from North Carolina and neighboring states enjoyed this amazing full house event.     They enjoyed an outstanding performance by the elegant performers of the Music Center that ended with a great encore song of "Happy Night" to end the evening.   Enthusiastic audience responded with a long lasting standing ovation.

Formosa Melody Music Center was established in Yilan, Taiwan, in 1994. It has been invited to perform worldwide in many places. Since 1996 it has visited America six times including California, Texas, and Iowa. It also has been to Europe and Japan, worked with many musicians in Canada, France, Switzerland, Germany, Ivory Coast, Latvia, and other countries. The performance for the celebration, The Sound from the Heart of the Homeland, will include traditional Taiwanese music, classical Taiwanese songs, American folk songs and world classical music, and traditional instrument solos. Instruments include Di (flute), Dong-Xiao (vertical bamboo flute), Er-Hu (vertical fiddle with two strings), Pi-Pa (Chinese lute, with a pear shaped body and 4 strings), Yue-Qin (banjo like instrument), Zhong-Ruan (moon guitar also banjo like), Yang-Qin (hammered strings like a flat harp), etc. There will also be folk art craft show displays featuring home decorations made from paper, leaves, straws, woodchips etc. The performance will celebrate the contributions from Taiwanese’s diverse multi-culture tradition nature to the progress of America.
