"Apps are the new channel for delivering services and experiences in mobile devices, taking over from the old world of web pages, texting, ringtones, wallpapers, MMS, Mobile TV – and some would argue voice, too."
Note: "... from the old world of web pages ..."
What are most of the mobile apps today? Let's be more specific, what are most of the internet radio apps today like? Answer: they are basically beautifully re-arranged web pages! To qualify as an app, one needs to add functionality. So the distinction is the extra functionality provided by the app over web pages.
Pandora is perhaps the best (or worst) of them because Pandora does provide functionality outside the web-browser. However, Pandora is the search engine cum database of the audio world. What kind of functionality outside a web-page or even a web-browser is required? And that is the 64 cent question!
