I haven't put up any pics yet so here are some pics of the early design.
The first picture is a screen capture of the Ubuntu version. Sorry, I am not much of an Industrial Designer so I do admit that I have seen hotter designs. Still there is only so much you can do with Gtk without going into cairo.
The second picture is a screen capture of the Nokia N900 emulator running the mobile app version (okay, okay, I am an Obama fan). I did not stick to the auto dashboard type design like I did for the Ubuntu version, but I think that within the context of a smart phone type device, the design of the mobile app version is better. The selection is using a Pannable Area with much of the buttons stored in the app menu. There is also a Fullscreen mode and the Favourite selection is unlimited.
I am currently into developing rev 1.2. I am keeping it in beta because of the lack of testing resulting from the lack of help. Once rev 1.2 is done for both the Ubuntu and Maemo version, I will spend more time on testing. Rev 1.2 includes a new method of selection which I thought of. The method, as in in the earlier revisions, is okay for maybe a few hundred stations in the selection, but it would get hairy if the number went up to few thousand and beyond. I think the new method is quite good and haven't seen anything like it on the web yet. So needless to say, the Rev 1.2 player outlook is different.
I'm also working on aggregating radio stations for the station list. Currently, made a few php scripts to pull in stuff. I hope to release a combined list of a few thousand stations from various aggregators. This would make it instantly worth it! But testing needs to be done and testing (and then fixing any problems) takes time and gets tougher when the bugs get on the higher hanging fruits.
