Currently sitting at the Nokia Winphone 7 seminar being held from 22nd to 23rd September at the Nokia auditorium in Singapore. Have just tried the winphone 7 SDK and I must give credit where credit is due. Microsoft has continuously refined its Visual Studio technology and it is a cinch to use. The familiar Visual Studio IDE makes it easy and even fun to program. Visual Expressions Blend brings the old visual UI editor to another level. The level of integration between Expressions Blend and the actual IDE is intuitive and seemless. What more could we want? Concrete product launch plans to include tablets etc etc.. As of right now, Nokia assures the developers that their Winphone 7 phones are on the way and is doing a great deal to ease the switch over.
Also attended the Nokia Meego workshop about a few weeks back. Again Nokia goes beyond the call of duty to build and keep its developer community. The N950 was shown at the developers seminar but the flat impression is that after N9 (or N950), no more Meego. Shame. Meego beauty is there but one wonders how developers can be convinced to do Meego when Winphone 7 is pushed in the same breath. Developers have limited bandwidth, when faced with the choice of the yet to be established Meego with a questionable future and the smooth Winphone 7 with a much less questionable future and perhaps a potential for apps to be in non-Nokia Winphone 7 phones, the choice is quite obvious.
