nTouchRadio was launched on Samsung Apps toward the end of July.
nTouchRadio incorporates several new concepts that seem to be natural for such a mobile application. These include
1. Bluetooth sharing of station information - you can BT your favourite station to another nTouchRadio application user.
2. Background radio player - the application plays the audio on a background thread so when you dismiss the player GUI, the radio will still play. The radio GUI can be restarted by clicking on the icons or restarting the app through the Notifications page. Naturally, the background music stops playing on an incoming phone call.
3. Support skip to next in podcast.
4. The app is integrated with a bulletin board system that allows for discussions, polls, rants and raves. I will activate this feature in the future.
5. Full Featured app allows for customization of the GUI.
6. Allows user to store the URL of a webpage and the player will open the webpage. With a supported Webplayer, this will allow bookmarking to website based Radio, audio streams and pod casts.
Aside from the above, the standard vRdo features are still there. The app allows parsing of several playlist formats which include .pls, .m3u. .xspf, and a few more. The Radio player plays those media standards supported by Android which unfortunately does not include the Windows media formats.
Standard Radio features, similar include
1. Storing of Radio Stations into Genre, Region and Source
2. One touch multi-category navigation
3. Favourites. The basic app allows up to 10 stations to be stored in favourites. The full featured app, which is ready but has yet to be released, will allow unlimited favourites.
