Throughout the course of the year, I was observed by Mr. Brent Walker, Haverhill Cooperative Middle School’s Principal. Each year there were 2 or 3 formal observations and one informal observation by Mr. Walker. Please view the lesson plans and his comments below. As part of my Alternate IV plan, my mentor also had to observe me. Finally, our district implemented a Mentorship program which paired an experience teacher with the new teacher. This observation is also found attached.
I also completed my own observation by going to Woodsville High School to watch Mrs. Cobb teach Algebra. I wanted to watch another teacher teach the same course that I teach to learn a different style of presenting the material. Mrs. Cobb does not use the text book, but rather uses the handouts provided with the text to present the material. When I asked why she uses this alternate material, she stated that she felt the text was too cumbersome to carry around. She has the students present the problems from the homework and talk about their current material. Her course is the general Algebra and mine is the Algebra CP, however, our methods were very similar.
