2017 - 2018 - HIVE Program
The HIVE program is an intensive one-year cohort-based program that offers staff and volunteer leaders the opportunity to explore the latest trends and best practices in volunteer engagement and supports organizations to pilot one strategic innovation in volunteer engagement that will measurably build capacity. Over the course of the year, participating organizations will receive an introductory webinar, a full-day training in volunteer engagement, four individualized coaching calls and two group coaching calls facilitated by nationally recognized volunteer engagement experts, evaluation support, and a full-day project reunion.
15 organizations will be chosen to take a team of not-less-than 4 people through this program culminating in a completed volunteer engagement project that will build capacity for the organization to move forward with the skills to continue to effectively engage highly-skilled volunteers in future projects.
Organizations will have the opportunity to:

Gain professional development and training in project management, volunteer engagement, and work planning
Advance leadership development for volunteer and staff leaders
Benefit from professional executive coaching and training on change management for volunteer engagement and capacity building

2018.10.12 - HIVE Facilitator's Training for the 2019 Cohort
Role as a facilitator is primarily to coach teams from 3 to 5 participating organizations, providing them with tools, advice, support, and accountability as they refine their work plans and implement their pilot project. Facilitators will participate in the HIVE Summit and sit in on the teams’ discussions while selecting their pilot project then provide individual coaching through four hour-long coaching calls over the subsequent months.
While your primary role is to facilitate the teams’ ability to successfully implement their volunteer engagement pilot, as a facilitator, your role also will include the opportunity to act as a mentor, a coach, a connector, a cheerleader, a challenger, and a change leader. This tool kit includes tools and resources to help you in all these roles. First, however, it is vital to be familiar with the expectations of your role, which are detailed in the position description in Appendix C, which explains the key responsibilities, impact and outcome, training and support, qualifications, and benefits of the role.
