In 2005, I ran for a position on the Haverhill Cooperative School Board because I felt changes were needed within our district. During my two years on the board, I served on the policy committee which took on the enormous task of updating our policies, most of which were 10 or more years old. I also served on the committees to hire three principals (one for each of the schools in the district). Throughout my time on the school board, I learned about the policies and financial obligations the board has to the school and the community. I served until 2007 when I took a full-time position at the Haverhill Cooperative Middle School as the eighth grade math teacher.
In 2012, I had the opportunity to return to the board for one year as a replacement for a board member that resigned. During that year, I served on the budget committee.
In 2015, I once again returned to the school board. Our district is in need for change and our teachers and staff needed representation on the board. I served as the SAU and District's secretary. I also served on the budget committee as well as the principal search committees. I resigned in 2019 to be able to fight for my children's education.
