By utilizing the professional development provided by the different resources I have available to me, I am able to stay up to date on the changes not only in the standards but also the technology available to make the math more hands on to my own students. As an online teacher, I have to make sure students are able to visualize the math they are reading about. My professional development provided me with resources to do so.

I stay active in my community through sports, the PTA, youth groups and especially the school board and school committees. These committees allow me the chance to understand the way my district is run and how the state and federal education laws affect not only my own children, but also my district. Being able to ask questions at these different groups allow me to make sure I understand what is going on and hopefully, make my district a better place for all students.

I plan on observing a long standing teacher in our district. Through this observation, I want to watch how she implements differentiation in her large class of 22 students. I want to see how she teaches one lesson but then uses her knowledge of her students to successfully guide them towards the appropriate activities. I also want to see how she uses technology in her teaching. Our district recently purchased Promethean boards for all classrooms. I want to see how this is used to engage students in the material being provided. Finally, I want to see how Responsive classroom is used to create a positive learning environment.

I plan on utilizing the professional development activities of NHTM, VLACS, and online courses to keep up to date on the educational standards and requirements in New Hampshire. I also belong to two organization that allow me to better understand the working of our education all system. These organizations are the Friends of Woodsville, Haverhill Cooperative School Board and the Haverhill Cooperative Middle School PTA.

My individual plan allowed me to explore how other teachers differentiate instruction based on their students' need. Differentiation is required to allow all students to increase their knowledge of math, with the end goal of becoming proficient at their grade level.
