“V’eis Parshandasa...v’eis Vay’zasa”
Including Parshandasa...and Vay’zasa
9:7-9
If you count the letters of the names of Haman's sons as listed when they were hanged starting with Parshandasa, and ending with the elongated Vav of Vay’zasa, you end up with 50 letters, indicating the length of the gallows (in Amos) on which they were hanged.
The Rokeach details how the 50 Amos of the gallows were used:
3 Amos was needed for the height of each person. Since Haman was re-hanged when his sons were hanged, that's 11 x 3 = 33.
Of the remaining 17 Amos, there was 1 Amah between each person (accounting for 10 Amos).
3 Amos of the gallows was sunk into the ground.
Vayzasa's feet were 3 Amos above the ground.
And there was 1 Amah from Haman's head to the top of the gallows.
For those scoring at home… (11 x 3) + (10 x 1) + 3 + 3 + 1 = 50
