ויבקש הדבר וימצא
Vayivukash hadavar vayimutzei
(2:23)
We’re told explicitly that Bigsan and Seresh plotted to kill Achashveirosh. However, the details surrounding how they were going to pull it off are not written overtly in the Pesukim.
Yalkut Shimoni tells us that they attempted to poison Achashveirosh by putting a snake into the king’s water. Once the snake had expelled some venom, they removed the snake, seemingly having covered their tracks successfully.
Once Achashveirosh was informed about the assassination plot, he looked into the matter—meaning, that he looked into his goblet and, through a miracle, was shown the image of a snake in his water.
The word “Vayimutzei” means “and it was found.” The word “Mutzu” refers to finding an object. The snake had been removed by the water, but Achashveirosh found it.
