June News

Littleover Historical Society

As the weather changes, we look towards venturing outdoors. Following our Boundary project and based on the Littleover Boundary of the late 1860's, this was a time when Littleover remained relatively stable for a long period. . Littleover stretched down Burton Road, as far as and including Littleover Hill, towards the Toll House, which is still a prominent feature on the landscape today, and ended at the border of Normanton.

Following the path South, down Blagreaves to the Hamlet of Stenson and travelling Westward, Littleover then continued along the line of Mickleover Parish, including Huffin Heath and also some parts of Findern and what is now Uttoxeter Road.   Previously Littleover, Findern and Potlock, (a small area just beyond Findern), were townships under the parish of  Mickleover.

We are currently in the process of creating maps showing the earlier and later parish which will be placed on the wall in the Community Centre to make this clear to interested parties.

14th June - we next meet at l0am at Littleover Grange Hall Community Centre, Park Lane. Visitors £3 incl. refreshments. Contact:
