Littleover Railway Mystery

Can you help us solve our Littleover mystery? Those of you who joined us on our visit to Littleover Old Hall, now the Fire and Rescue Headquarters, could not fail to notice the large stone plaque propped up against the back wall. This plaque has no connection with the hall, it has been verified by Peter Billson author of Derby and the Midland Railway, as being the centre piece above the Derby Tri Junct station of 1840, so what is it doing at the hall? We do however have a connection with Derby Railways in Littleover, just along the Burton Road in Littleover House lived a succession of Railway Managers one in particular, James Allport from 1856-1881.

Have you any answers?
