Description
There is a report that The Chequer, Little Gransden (presumably the same building), was subject to a conveyance in 1814 [Bedfordshire Archives].
Microbrewery, Son of Sid, launched in 2005. The Chequers won the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) East Anglia Pub of the Year award in 2019 and one of the top four pubs in the country.
Top features of the multi-award winning family-run pub is its unspoilt middle bar, with wooden benches, roaring fire and a collection of decoy birds gathered on the beam over the bar.
The pub, which has become an important community landmark, also has its own in house micro-brewery ‘Son of Sid’, and offers fresh fish and chips every Friday night, which are cooked to order.
