Gransden Lodge races

After the end of the Second World War there was a lack of suitable motor racing circuits. The Cambridge University Automobile Club managed to get permission from the land owners to hold motor racing at Gransden Lodge airfield (which the Air Ministry required) and was assisted by the Vintage Sports Car Club to hold the first post-war race there on 15 June 1946. A further race meeting was held on 13 July 1947.

As luck would have it Silverstone was also favoured for motor racing and developed into the Grand Prix circuit and testing facilities it is today. What might have been for Gransden Lodge.
