Testimony of Faith:

Nicene Creed (inclusive language)

We believe in one God the Creator Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Creator before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Creator by whom all things were made; who for us, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man, and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried, and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Creator. And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead, whose kingdom shall have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Creator and the Son, who with the Creator and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Offering Song: “As Saints of Old”

Text: Frank von Christierson, b. 1900, alt.

Music: English folk tune FOREST GREEN

Offering Prayer:

A: Let us pray, Lord of Love,

C: You gave us the greatest gift of all, our Savior Jesus Christ. We ask that you accept the gifts we bring: our possessions, our time and our talents. Use them as You will for your purpose. Thanks be to God. Amen.

Eucharistic Prayer:

P: O God of all creation, hear my call, listen to the pleadings of my heart.

C: The Lord has promised good to me;

P: As you heard the words of your servants Abraham and Sara, Jacob, Naomi, Mary and Joseph,

C: God's Word my hope secures;

P: Respond also to me, speak to me and I shall listen.

C: God will my shield and portion be as long as life endures.

P: Creator God, Mother and Father of all things

C: Come be with us, come join with us now and forever.

P: Living God, God of every blessing, be with us now and forever.

C: When we've been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun,

P: Shower us with your love, fill us with your joy for all that you have made.

C: We've no less days to sing God's praise,

P: Bring us into communion, into the warmth of your household, into kinship with all creation.

C: Than when we'd first begun.

P: Spirit of God, Comforter and Inspiration

C: Come be with us, come join with us now and forever.

P: Word of God, live in us, for you are greater than we can comprehend,

C: Through many dangers toils and snares I have already come.

P: More glorious than any sun, more beautiful than any song ever sung.

C: ‘Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,

P: Blessing and honor are yours for you are God and we are your people, yours to command.

C: And grace will lead me home.

P: Jesus Christ, Savior God and Friend,

C: Come be with us, come join with us now and forever.

P: For I received from the Lord

that which I also handed down to you—

that the Lord Jesus

in the night in which He was betrayed took bread;

and after giving thanks, He broke it and said,

“This is My body, which is for you;

do this in remembrance of Me.”

In the same way also He took the cup after supper, saying,

“This cup is the new covenant which is in My blood;

do this as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup,

you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. I Corinthians 11:23-26 (trans. Annal Frenz)

Lord's Prayer:

P: Let us pray,

C: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
