MEDITATION& REFRAIN

The choir begins the Refrain in Latin: “Atténde Dómine”

REFRAIN “Atténde Dómine”/"Have Mercy On Us, O Lord”

by W. Michael Aguilar III, © 2005, Shandy Music Industries, PO Box 10402, Portland, OR 97296.

The thoughts below are spoken by an Pastor or Assistant as the refrain is played through. Votives are handed out to each row as the refrain is sung. Each person passes the votive to the next person when they are done. The last person in the row takes the lighted votive up to the tables during the Silence.

Week 1

“If you desire to know God, you already have Faith.” A 4th Century Christian

Week 2

Doubt is an expression of Faith – how can you doubt if you do not already desire God?

Week 3

Faith is trusting God – even in the slightest.

Week 4

Are you saved?—God did this – not you – once for all people in all ages – past, present and future – even if they don’t know it or acknowledge it.

Week 5

God is relentless – pushing through to me – pursuing me – through my pain, through my laughter, through any means.

Silence

The last person in the row takes the lighted votive up to the tables during the Silence.

CONFESSION & REFRAIN

The confessions below are spoken as the refrain is played through. The refrain is sung as a meditation.

Week 1:

P: (Spoken over music) I admit that . . .

C: I have not loved God with all my soul, with all my mind, with all my heart. Refrain

Week 2:

P: (Spoken over music) I admit that . . .

C: I have not made time for God in my daily life. I have not centered my life in God’s Word through prayer and scripture. I have not lived every moment in relationship with God. Refrain

Week 3:

P: (Spoken over music) I admit that . . .

C: I have not let God guide my life. I have not relied on God to provide me with all that I need. Instead I have taken what I wanted. Refrain

Week 4:

P: (Spoken over music) I admit that . . .

C: I have not committed myself to God. I have not accepted that only God can save me. I cannot save myself. Refrain

Week 5:

P: (Spoken over music) I admit that . . .

C: I have not loved God with all my soul, with all my mind, with all my heart. I have not lived every moment in relationship with God. I have not relied on God. I have not committed myself to God. I have not loved God with all my heart. Refrain

REFRAIN “Forgive Me, Oh God”

by W. Michael Aguilar III, © 2005, Shandy Music Industries, PO Box 10402, Portland, OR 97296.

Silence

Each person may write their confession(s) or problem(s) on the dissolvable paper and place it in Baptismal Font during the Silence

(Note: Dissolvable paper is available, but it is very expensive; however a little goes a long way as you cut it down to 2x3 inch pieces. To use, you will need a large bowl with a little water in it, a pitcher, or two of water. As people put their paper in the water you pour water into the bowl. This dissolves the paper much faster, besides providing a wonderful visual and audible symbol of forgiveness. The water will be slightly cloudy but will clear eventually. You may check out one website at Dissolvo, LLC. Some alternatives to this are to burn the confessions or to collect them for burning later by the paster/priest. However, you can keep the Baptismal symbolism by keeping the braizer or collection bowl by the Font.)

BLESSING FOR HEALING & MEDITATION REFRAIN

The following is spoken as the refrain is played through. Those who desire to receive a blessing for healing may come forward as the refrain is sung.

P: (Spoken over music) As God calls us to reconciliation through Jesus the Christ, so too does God send us the Spirit for the healing of our body, minds and souls. Through the laying on of hands and the Word, God renews us.

COMMUNION REFRAIN “Create In Me”

Eucharistic Prayer:

P (Spoken over music) True God, Giver of Life, Word of our Creator, Spirit of Counsel and Might; God of our deliverance, be with us now as we join in the celebration of your love.

COMMUNION REFRAIN “Create In Me”

by W. Michael Aguilar III, © 2005, Shandy Music Industries, PO Box 10402, Portland, OR 97296.

P: (Spoken over music) On the night in which he was betrayed, Jesus took the bread, gave thanks, and broke it and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this often in remembrance of me.”

After supper Jesus took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this often in remembrance of me.”

When you eat this bread and drink this cup you make public Jesus’ death until he comes. Come, take in this lifesaving meal.

Lord’s Prayer:

(Spoken over music) Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

Silence (Distribution of Communion)

Prayer:

A: Let us pray.

C: Lord Jesus, you are our Christ, the One who reconciles us, brings us back from the depths of lifelessness. With your body you feed us to overflowing, with your blood you transfuse us to boundless vitality, that we may walk boldly in this world: being all that you would have us be, doing all that you would have us do, showing to all that we meet the power, the wonder, the glory of God. Amen.
