METAL GREEN PAINT COLOR - Issue with Security Doors/Gates

Post date: Mar 7, 2017 10:05:11 PM

As The Architectural Control Committee (ACC) walks through the community on the first and third Thursdays of each month it has been noticed that their is a huge variance in color of the metal security doors/gates.Because the Arizona sun has such tremendous impact on all paint, an issue has arisen in Kinney Village regarding the need to paint gates and security doors.

The issue is that when the approved Dunn Edwards paint designated as Kinney Village Metal Green is purchased in a small quantity by an owner it appears to be much darker than paint currently on the security doors/gates and a different shade than the paint used by the professional painters. This could be attributed to the size of the batch made.

Therefore, any metal security door or gate that is faded or rusty shall be required to be painted by the owner. Any security door or gate that has oxidized (white film) may be cleaned in lieu of painting. When painting the metal, please ensure that Kinney Village METAL Green, Semi-Gloss (Formula: 04-1Y7.21875 14-24, 12-7.21875, 13-46.9375 See label image below) is obtained from the Dunn Edwards store. This is a different formula than the Kinney Village Green used for building trim.

Variances in color, as long as the Dunn Edwards paint is used and can be substantiated, will be noted but no violation letter will be forwarded to the owner. This is important so that a record is made of the decision and all owners can be treated equitably.
