eLearning Toolkit

This page contains e-learning resources that I've found either directly, or through classmates, that are great links to check out for anyone interested in online teaching and learning.

Websites

• American Distance Education Consortium (from Roberto Maduro's toolkit) -- This site contains a wealth of information relating to e-learning, including courseware tools, resources, and information about accessibility issues.
• United States Distance Learning Assocation (from Kim Browning's toolkit) -- This is the professional association for the distance learning community. Information on conferences, as well as a quarterly journal, are featured.

Blogs

• Jane's E-Learning Pick of the Day -- I stumbled across this site before I even began the M.Ed. program. Jane Hart, founder of the Centre for Learning & Peformance Technologies, maintains the blog and reviews various e-learning technologies and news. There's some really interesting material there! You can also find information from this site on the right side of this page in the "Feeds Gadget."
• E-Learning and Distance Education Resources -- Tony Bates, president and CEO of a distance learning design company based in Canada, manages a fantastic list of e-learning resources, along with a blog. In fact, I found this site through Google Blog Search while looking for research items for HRE 490. Guest blogs and links to personal publications are also included.
• E-Learning Technology Blog -- Tony Karrer, CEO/CTO of an e-learning development firm in Los Angeles, maintains a lengthy blog of technology as it relates to e-learning. The posts are exhaustive, but filled with links that could keep you clicking for hours. Because there's so much there, it may be best to read new posts in a RSS reader, but use the links in the right column of the blog to access topical information.
• Rapid eLearning Blog (from Brian Petrusch's toolkit) -- A very interesting blog that show tips about various facets of e-learning development, including a recent post about converting PowerPoint presentations to an online course.

E-books

• Assessing the Impact of Technology in Teaching and Learning: A Sourcebook for Evaluators -- Learner outcomes and teacher outcomes are discussed in this great e-book from the University of Michigan. There are seven sections in the sourcebook discussing a wide variety of topics.
• Emerging Perspectives on Learning, Teaching, and Technology -- This wiki-based e-book has some great information on cognitive theories (Bloom's Taxonomy), learning-centered theories, and inquiry strategies, plus tools for teaching and learning. The format makes this a very easy read.

Technologies

• Delicious -- Users from all over share their interesting bookmarked links with one another through this so-called social bookmarking site.
• Slideshare -- Share your presentations, and view others, for free, with this website.
