HRE 533

HRE 533 - Management of HRD (eLearning)

HRE 533, Management of HRD (eLearning), was the fifth course in the M.Ed. program. This course was very different from the other courses in the program, because it focused on program management, looking at aspects like cost analysis, budgeting, and needs assessment. Students had to consider eLearning program management from the program's infancy through a mature stage. One unique aspect of this course is that students are tasked with analyzing existing eLearning programs based on a framework set forth by Badrul Khan. My group analyzed the Engineering and Computer Science Online program at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. This course required a variety of assignments, including blogs, discussions, a screencast, and the group analysis of the online program.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Develop a comprehensive and strategic understanding of online program management issues.
  • Understand the various stages of eLearning programs and initiatives in an organizational context.
  • Investigate management practices that will support and facilitate the various stages of eLearning implementation and maintenance.
  • Conduct research that guides informed decision-making in eLearning environments.
