Week 2 - 1/20/09

Two weeks down. This was an interesting week. It was the first time working in a team of two, with all the challenges it can bring. Oddly enough, I thought that my strange work schedule would be an impediment to both me and my partner, and that has turned out not to be the case (so far!). One great strategy I have been employing is staying ahead on the reading just a little bit. For example, I completed next week's reading assignment this morning. That way, I can dive right into research, or have a couple nice downtime days during the middle of the week. I'm also trying to stay ahead of the e-portfolio assignment. I completely agree with Sharon -- I'm happy I spent so much time on this the first week (and especially the first few days), so that I could focus on other things the rest of Week 1 and this week.

This week we learned about theory and scholarship of distance education. I found the topic to be quite interesting, and some of the research articles I found really made me think. I'd suggest anyone reading this -- especially if you are considering doing the same degree program I am -- to check out particularly my second article reviewed this week. It says that a proactive personality helps student satisfaction. Although I have my lazy moments, if I wasn't motivated to do this program, I'd already be out. It's intense. But it's so interesting, and so different from what I've studied in the past.

Only six weeks to go in this first course. Unbelievable.
