Showcase Project 2

HRE 470 Supervisor Training Course

In the third course in the University of Illinois Ed.M. eLearning program, Design of Learning Systems, the final project was a group effort in which we were asked to design a course online using the open source learning management system Moodle. As students, this was our first experience with Moodle in any capacity, so we were required to learn the technology and then try to use it to deploy the best course possible. Our group (Sharon Bowling, Tim Buteyn, Brian Petrusch, and myself) chose to develop a supervisor training course that could be used for new supervisors in an organization. Each of the group members took one portion of the course and then worked together to polish and deploy it. My primary focus was on employee engagement, and the things I learned through researching that topic have already proven themselves to be of great value to me professionally! The course is no longer available, as the College of Education has removed the link. However, a screenshot is available to the right, and we still have the information from the course available to re-deploy if one wishes to view it.

I selected this project to include in my ePortfolio because it demonstrates ability to work in a group to complete a project, and because it explores a very important subject -- supervisor training. I actually learned a lot by going through our course myself, and I think others will too!
