Ground breaking music app- stunning creativity tool for the nearly non-musician.
Art Rage ($7.49)
Full art palette. Supports layers like Photoshop. Import a photo from your photo library as a layer and use it to trace/copy.

Very versatile Drawing Programme that allows you to trace and use layers to construct works of art. Here is a very useful video tutorial that shows you how to draw a portrait using Sketchbook Express.

LiveSketch HD ($2.59)
Sketching: Brilliant for teaching shading. Go faster it's lighter, more slowly it gets darker. Easy to make things that look good.
