Quiver- 3D coloring book app (free but with in app purchases)

A cool Kiwi company makes this colouring in app. You print off the prompts and colour them in the old fashioned way. AR brings your colouring to life. Try the pukeko.

Make your own image prompts for videos. Here is Michael Fawcett's video showing it in action. Here is a video of how to make the prompts. Here is my example. Download Aurasma, open this link and fire it the globe in this blog post. Here is how we used Aurasma using QR codes to get the auras so you can see them on the class blog. You need Cardboard viewer for it to work. Once downloaded you are prompted to download individual animations to view with Cardboard.

Zippy (free)

Zippy is an iPad Augmented Reality app where you colour printed pages of the alphabet or objects like a whare. You then aim the iPad at the printed page and it will come alive and read aloud the sounds of the alphabet etc. It’s a bit hard to explain so I made this little video demo.

Sharks in the Park (free)

You need a big playing space for this one like a school playground. The idea is you run around catching fish but avoid being eaten by a shark. Here is a video to show you how to play the game.

The book will run independently as a ordinary picture book but you can download the trigger page or buy a copy of the actual book as well. I have ordered the book so can report back when it arrives. Nice animation from the trigger page already.

Guiness World Record 2013 (free)

You need to have this year copy of the Guiness World Record Book. Labelled pages trigger the AR app. I particularly like the shark and the parrot page but there are others!

Heart of Nelson (free)

This on is only for Nelsonians as it's location based. You stand on blue markers on the footpath and point your iPhone at the locations and you get an image of how it used to be- along with some text historical information. Here is the old Post Office taken as a screen grab. Very cool.
