Cross Curricula Apps

These apps are my most used and versatile apps could be used anywhere in the curriculum.

Only limited by your imagination. These apps all work with iOS11.

These apps are half price if purchased with Volume Purchasing in multiples of 20.

Book Creator ($7.49) There also for the free version which only allows you to make one book.

Brilliant book creator, make your book and it sends it to iBooks and exports to video in the camera roll- now with embedded audio, video and freestyle handwriting features. There is also Book Creator Free which is fully functioning but you can only make on book. My one best favourite app- very versatile- look for tutorials in the sidebar. Seesaw- the Learning Journal (free) but you need to buy if you want assessment rubrics and carry-over classes if you want to.

An excellent way to easily construct reflective videos, annotated images and oral sharing of writing etc. Also a great way to connect with whānau via the Seesaw Parent App. You can enable a public blogging feature.

Chrome (free)

You will want this is you want to access Book Creator in Chrome from your iPad and to use the embeded Chrome QR code reader

Google Drive (free)

If you have a Google account this would be a must have. See the files, folders etc that you have created and upload photos and video straight to your Drive from the iPad.

Write About This NZ ($5:19)

Either select from pre-set writing prompts or take your own. Record a voice prompt to go with it and write your story. When you're done you can record your story and export it to your camera roll. Here is my quick example. This is the link to the New Zealand version. Woohoo.

Very powerful presentation tool like Powerpoint. The same as your laptop version. Very cool to use in conjunction with Keynote Remote ($1.29) to control the progression of slides with your iPhone.

Apple Clips (Free)

Easy to use video capture and annotation app from Apple. Uses Siri for live closed captioning. Needs iOS 10.3 or better to work. Here is my quick example.

Flick (free)

Flick seamlessly flicks images, video and app between devices- Android, Apple, Windows, laptop. Always gets a great reaction as you flick stuff too. Works on older iPads that don't have Air Drop.

QR Reader (free)

If you have iOS11 all you have to do is use your camera and it will recognise QR codes or use the QR Reader in Chrome but if you have an older iPad this will do.

iPad version of the popular stop motion Mac app. Gives a nice onion skin effect so you know where your last image was before you take the next one.

Popplet Lite (free)

The lite version only lets you create one mindmap at a time. There is a paid version for ($6.49) that lets you create multiple Popplets. I just take a screen grab of the lite version when it's finished with. Exports a jpeg or a pdf.

Quite similar to Show Me but you can type in it with the keyboard as well. You have to make an account for your school and receive and confirmation email before you can embed anything.

Strip Designer ($4:49)

Wonderful for green screening photos- layer them just like Photoshop. Here's the manual. To green screen add a sticker and mask the background. This could be a good extra.

So easy to use for digital storytelling, recording school trips, evidence of learning, all sorts. Movie exports to the Camera Roll.

Show Me Interactive Whiteboard (free app)

Draw and record your voice on your iPad at the same time- can add your photos upload and get quick embed code. Now gone to a paid structure and somewhat overtaken by Seesaw.

Explain Everything Whiteboard ($14:99)

Draw and record your voice on your iPad at the same time. The joy of this one is that it exports as a movie to your camera roll and doesn't need a log in or internet to work.
