Path Input ($2.99)

Draw Stars (free)
Not strictly a handwriting app but kids love drawing letters with the stars. When you're done just brush the stars away to try again.

InkFlow (free)
You write with your finger or stylus. You can then lasso the text and reduce the size of it and fit lots of writing on the page. An in app purchase lets you have advanced features to make it more functional.
School Fonts ($5:29)
This font set was made for New Zealand so it works perfectly on that score. The format itself is a little tame. There is a free version as well to trial and see if you like. You can set up user profiles that remember what lesson you are up to.

Easy to use sketching app- liked using it with a fine nib. Recommended by Sylvia Duckworth, whose sketchnotes I very much admire. More ideas for sketching-noting in this presentation.

You trace the letters in the writing groups. At the end of each set you can a summary of how well you went for screen-grabbing and sharing
