What you want to do

We want to explore the crime rate in the U.S. and use data visualization tools to display the information to the audience. Because of the limitation of the data, we will be mainly showing audience some exploratory analysis on the crime rate. Especially, we want to show crime rate against location on a map. We want to explore the relationship between crime rate and population. We also want to explore if there are correlations among different type of crimes.

Why it is interesting to you

Crime mapping is a key component of crime analysis and allows analysts to identify crime hot spots along with other trends and patterns. Through such analysis, we may have a better understanding of the potential correlation between locations and crimes, which may be useful for helping law enforcement administrators to devise strategies to deal with crimes by states. Also, understanding the relationship between different crimes may be helpful.
