The meeting was called to order at 1:00 p.m. Richard Clark, president of our

last senior class at Handley High School. The first order of business was to set

dates for future planning meetings. After discussion a motion was made by

David McConnell and seconded by Richard Clark that the next meeting be held

on Saturday, November 15, 2008, again at the home of David and Jane

McConnell. The motion passed unanimously.

David McConnell proposed that we consider going to dinner together after the

next meeting at a restaurant in Granbury and after dinner attend the performance

of “50’s Class Reunion” music show at “Granbury Live.” After some discussion

the proposal was accepted. David reported that the approximate cost for the

show would be $25.00 per person.

Richard opened the reunion discussion asking the group to consider: when,

where, who, how, cost, decorations, entertainment, and photos/memories. Then

the following topics were discussed:

WHEN: the unanimous decision of the group was that because of precedent

already set, and because the class of 1959 will be honored as the Fiftieth

Anniversary Class, we will schedule our reunion activities for Saturday, April 25th

in the evening after the regular spring alumni luncheon. This will then allow our

classmates, who choose to do so, to attend the Handley High School Alumni

Spring luncheon.

WHERE: The following people agreed to contact these places as possible sites

for our evening reunion site and report back regarding costs and other particulars

needed to make a decision as to location of the reunion event:

• Richard and Marsha Clark will contact the Radisson Hotel in Fort Worth.

• Linda Duncan will contact The Texas Star in Euless.

• Carolyn Hafley will contact Diamond Oaks Country Club.

WHO: The group agreed that invitees should be classmates from our class of

1959 or 1958 and their spouses.

HOW: Jane Bratcher will contact the Fort Worth Star Telegram for contact

information regarding public information announcements. Linda Duncan will

contact local newspapers. Ann Weiss will contact the Houston Chronicle,

Classmates.com, and Reunion.com.

Photos/videos/cameras: Richard Clark will contact Ronnie Clark, his brother, for

the possibility of producing videos of the event. Grady King suggested

disposable cameras at each table. Discussion followed, but no decisions will be

made until we have more information.

Decorations: Clayton and Jane Bratcher volunteered to obtain the Handley

Greyhound banner. Many other things were discussed including purple crepe

paper, votive candles on mirrors. No decisions were made.

Entertainment: There was discussion of several kinds of activities including “ice

breaker” activities described by David McConnell, and “Show and Tell” described

by Richard Clark. No decisions were made.

• Linda Duncan asks that everyone send her as many pictures as possible from

Handley High School days and she will investigate the possibility of having a

CD made that would be playing during the Reunion.

• Doris Richardson Raymond will help organize “Who’s the Most….” Contest for

various categories. We are all to help by submitting suggestions for

categories. There will be prizes.

• Jane Bratcher will make nametags.

Web Page Direction: David asked for feedback about the web. He asks that

more people PLEASE send pictures and stories either via email or regular U.S.

mail. Send everything to David. David will also post pictures from the reunion

afterwards. Richard Clark suggested that we add a family page to the web site.

Biographies: Ann, David, and Kaye will work on a template to help us in writing

an interesting biography. David discussed the idea of creating a form on the web

site as a means of collecting the biographical information using a series of

questions that our classmates would respond to by entering their answers into a

field on the form. David will post the template on the web site for additional

suggestions from the planning group before creating the form on the web site.

Once the form is implemented we’ll want to test it using contributions by the

planning group before offering it to our classmates at large.

Letter to our Classmates: Richard Clark discussed the letter he had prepared for

sending to our classmates to inform them of our reunion planning activities.

Also, Richard said he wanted to send out the contact sheet with the letter. David

read the letter, and the group approved sending it with the contact list to our

classmates.

Missing Contact Information: Ann and Jane discussed the problem of having

classmates who we have not yet been able to locate. We will continue

broadening our search. Several suggestions were made as to sources of public

information records.

Get-Well Card: Richard Clark suggested we all sign a card for our classmate,

Jackie (Mathis) Davis. Jane McConnell provided a card that was signed by all

classmates that were present. We then prayed together for her healing.

FUTURE PLANNING COMMITTEE DATES:

Richard Clark adjourned the meeting at 5:00 p.m.

After the meeting the group (excepting Doris, Eddy and Carolyn who had other obligations and had to leave) went together to the Mesquite Pit restaurant for dinner.

Special Thanks: Ann, for preparing the minutes.
