In this blog I explain how to calculate with symbols and create a formula in Excel. Some of the calculation symbols for calculating in Excel are different from those used for calculating on paper.
The calculation symbols used in Excel are:
'=' --> When I start in a cell in Excel with this symbol, Excel knows I am going to calculate
'+' --> When I use this symbol in Excel, Excel knows I am going to add
'–' --> When I use this symbol in Excel, Excel knows I am going to subtract
'*' --> When I use this symbol in Excel, Excel knows I am going to multiply
'/' --> When I use this symbol in Excel, Excel knows that I am going to divide
These symbols are used in combination with numbers and the '=' sign in Excel to do math.
To calculate 101 + 102, stand in cell A3. And put in the cell '= 101 + 102' and then I use Enter. After entering, the result is given in cell A3 (203) and in the formula bar the calculation.
