Blog

Usually these are texts that appear in reverse chronological order. The author (blogger) basically provides a log of information that the blogger wants to share with site visitors. Usually it concerns text, but sometimes also photos, video (vlog) or audio (podcast).

Browser

Web browser, Internet browser, browser, is a computer program for viewing web pages. Popular browsers include Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, and Opera.

Childtheme

I use a Childtheme to make adjustments to an existing WordPress theme and then these adjustments are not lost after an update.

CMS

Content management system (CMS) allows users to maintain and modify a website without needing knowledge of coding. The system writes the code for me, and I can focus on the content.

Cookies

An amount of data that a server sends to the browser with the intention that it is stored and sent back to the server on a subsequent visit. This allows the server to recognize the browser again and keep track of what the user has done in the past.

Domain Name

Naming System, refers to an IP address consisting of numbers. The name consists of a piece before the dot and piece after the dot. Eg: databeet.nl. Nowadays, more and more is it possible to get something else behind the point than .com.

Retrieving digital information from a online location to a location on my laptop.

Google Analytic

A service provided by Google to collect statistics from a website and to display them in detail. The purpose of this service is to give the website administrator a clear picture of visitor flows, traffic sources, page views, etc.

Header

Header on a page or blog. Is the Title of a paragraph.

Homepage

This is the first page of my website. The most important one. It is the most visited page of my website. The Homepage is my business card and its looks decides mostly if someone wants to work with me.

Hosting

Hosting is a service that provides people or businesses with space to store information, images, or other content that can be accessed through my website. It is like a cupboard.

Html

Markup language, language in which it is indicated how something should look like.

Internet

Is a computer network on which I can access the world wide web.

IP address

Similar to phone number. Every address on the internet has its own number combination with which the computer can be identified and can communicate with other computers.

Link

Hyperlink, connection or link that points to something else. Clicking on will take me somewhere else on the web.

Page

These pages contain general information about the organization that is fixed. Pages are used to publish content that doesn't change. This is different from a blog, which contains a story or information.

Password

Password, a secret word that gives access along with a username to information.

Plugin

A plugin is an addition to a computer program. Plugins are generally made to extend a program or give it more possibilities.

Pop-ups

A new, often smaller window that appears on top of the existing window. Pop-ups are widely used to advertise on web pages or to let me fill in a form.

Provider

A provider is a company that offers users and companies access to the Internet. This is different from hosting.

Reactions

Are reactions from people on, for example, a blog that I have written.

SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO is used to make my website easier to find on the world wide web through search enginges like Google.

Social Media

Social media is a collective name for all internet applications with which it is possible to share information with each other in a user-friendly and often fun way. Examples are Facebook, LikedIn, X (formerlyTwitter), YouTube, Wattsapp, etc.

Theme

A WordPress theme is the design, which determines what the website looks like. There are thousands of themes available for WordPress. A lot are free of cost.
