I often see people using a post when it is more convenient to create a page and vice versa. What is the difference?
I use Posts to share news or information. This is called a blog. A post is automatically displayed by date on my posts page by WordPress sorted by date with the latest post first. I can also adapt this on another page and choose another format to display my blogs, for example by topic.
I create a page for standard text that is about my company, myself, subject, etc. A good example of page is the about page. The about page tells general information about me.
Here are the differences between post and page:
A page is static
A page is important for general information about for example my organization or myself
A page is not displayed by date
A post has tags (trefwoorden)
A post has categories (topics/onderwerpen)
A post is listed by date on blog page with newest first (most of the time)
I can view an archive of posts
Posts can be sorted by categories
Post can be sorted by tags
Pages are displayed in menus. Post can also be displayed in menus, but are usally not.
