Design In WordPress

Template

The design in WordPress is influenced by Theme (template) I choose and a little bit by the plugins I add. I can also customize the theme with programming. The latter is not recommended if I don't know enough about coding.

Theme

There are a lot of themes in WordPress. So much that if I do a search without having an idea of ​​what I want my website to look like, I will get lost in the themes. There are both free and paid themes. There are also some themes that have a free and paid version. With the paid version I can do more. The prices of the themes vary widely. If I have a small budget, a free theme will soon be perfect if I look carefully.

Find Theme

I can find a suitable theme by thinking about the following things in advance:

• Colors I want my website to have (usually my 'huisstijl' colors). Color is often customizable so look beyond that

• Where do I want my menu (top, left, right, bottom)

• Do I want to use photos in my design and where and how

• How many columns do I want

• Do I want to use a certain font (Lettertype)

• Do I have a logo and should it be on the website and where

• There are tons of free themes to use, don't get lost in looking for the perfect theme

• Read the reviews of the theme, often I can conclude from that whether the theme is useful

• Choose a theme with support in the form of forum, faq and/or mail support, so that I can ask questions if I get stuck in setting up the theme

• Do I want a lot of fuss on my website or a minimalistic design?

Small Miracles Or A Perfect Website

And so I can come up with more questions, the more I have thought about how I want my website to be, the easier it becomes to find a template that is suitable as a basic for my website. But remember with free templates I can make small miracles, not big ones! If I really want a custom website and I have that budget (read large budget), WordPress may not be suitable for me, and it is better to hire a programmer/developer who will tailor the website.
