sides, small rooms are carved into the stone walls. A myriad of walkways,
ledges and stairs provide access to these rooms. Roads converge on this
place from all directions indicating a major junction. The high domed
ceiling rises far above you and sometimes disappears from sight, either
rushing up into impenetrable blackness, or vanishing behind huge stone
columns. Twisting and turning, the passages and rooms are truly
impressive and you marvel at the magnificence of it all.

Before Durin's Chimney
Here, Durin's Way intersects another large Avenue. The markings indicate that
this north-south passage is dedicated to Yavanna, the wife of Aule the Maker.
To the east, the rock walls suddenly disappear and Durin's Way meets the
Chimney of Durin -- a great open area in the heart of Caradhras. Apparently a
great bridge once spanned this abyss, but it has long been destroyed, and in
its place a shoddy bridge of orkish manufacturer connects both sides of the
Chimney.
