Join Hyde Square Task Force on Thursday, October 16th at 4:30pm at the Connolly Branch of the Boston Public Library to continue celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. The youth leaders of ¡Acción! Community Theater (ACT!) are proud to present My Name is/Me Llamo Celia – a play adapted from the bilingual children’s book by the same name by Monica Brown about Celia Cruz, the late “Queen of Salsa.” This event is free and open to children of all ages. The play will be followed by theater activities led by ACT! youth leaders. Each child who attends will receive a free copy of the book. - See more at: http://www.hydesquare.org/events/#sthash.JTBK5Q1v.dpuf
For extra credit, respond to these questions in detailed, vibrant paragraphs: 1) What did you see/feel/experience at the event? Who attended? Who presented? Were the populations different? 2) What did you learn about Celia Cruz? How does it connect to Latino identity?; 3) How was this event similar to events that represent your cultural heritage or background? Why or why not? 4) What questions are you left with? 5) How does Kelly know Profe Buena (who she knows as "Riana")? What school does she attend now? How did she get involved in Hyde Square Task Force? How could you get involved in Hyde Square Task Force?
