Ms. Good, aka Profe Buena, has taught Spanish 1, 2 & 3 at BLA and took a year off to explore during the 2018-19 school year. She has used Spanish in her twelve years teaching in the Boston Public Schools, as an environmental educator with the Peace Corps in Paraguay, as the Assistant Director of Adult Education at RI’s largest Latino social service agency, and as a community organizer with a primarily Spanish-speaking population in Providence, RI. With an undergraduate degree in cognitive neuroscience and an interest in botany and plants, she may expose her science-side, as well. She loves to move - whether swimming, hiking, dancing, or around the classroom. She's proud of her really old flip-phone, biking even in the yuckiest weather, and speaking Guaraní - ask her to speak it sometime.
At BLA, she has served as faculty advisor of the Student Government and the Rainbow Alliance, as well as on the Faculty Senate and as one of the school's representatives to the Boston Teacher's Union. Outside of school she helps to coordinate theTeacher Activist Group and has served on the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's state-wideTeacher Advisory Cabinet.
Here's a video in which she speaks about the Educator Evaluation System in Massachusetts, featuring BLA Class of 2018.
She's also in this video about student input in teacher evaluation, featuring BLA class of 2016 and retired physics teacher Mr. Allen.
