2016 Poster Contest Theme:Abre puertas con el español –Due Date: March 11. 2016
Awarded to 1st , 2nd, and 3rd prize winners( $50-$25). All other participants will receive a participation prize. Winning state posters in the categories of grades K-3, grades 4-5, grades 6-8 and grades 9-12 hand-drawn or digital will be submitted to the National AATSP competition. Winners of both the State and the National Levels will be honored at a banquet in May.
*All posters become the property of AATSP and will not be returned. Permission to use poster or poster image and the name of the school and of the student is granted with submission of the entry. *
TRADITIONAL HAND-DRAWN POSTER CONTEST FOR K-12
DRAWN POSTER RULES:
1. Sponsoring teachers must be AATSP members with dues paid for 2016
2. Posters must include the theme, “ Abre puertas con el español –Abra portas com o português”
3. Each poster must be the original work of one student, no group entries.
4. Posters must measure about 12 X 18 inches( must be no larger than half a poster board) .
5. Any art materials may be used such as watercolor, pen and ink, crayon, chalk,
or markers. Winning posters will be reproduced and reprinted; Clear artwork and easy to read messages are best. Markers or paint are preferred for best color.
6. **Primary captions and the majority of poster dialogue, text, or writing MUST BE in Spanish, or Portuguese and artwork should represent the Hispanic and/or Luso-Brazilian cultures (and Spanish and/or Portuguese languages) in a prominent way. **
7a. All posters must be the student’s original, creative artwork, including illustrations, images, or quotations. Depictions of cartoon, video game, and movie and/or theme characters, television characters, and past poster designs do not constitute creativity and originality. ABSOLUTELY NO COPYRIGHTED images, figures, or wording are to be used. AATSP holds no liability for copyright infringement.
7b. Posters maybe in the form of graphic designs, digital illustrations, or photographs. Students may use any available design applications/programs.
Save the design into a hi-resolution .jpg format as:
ChapterName_StudentFirstname_Lastname.
Please note that the chapter name is Massbay
8. LIMIT: A teacher may submit a maximum of THREE (3) posters per category (hand-drawn and digital)
9. JUDGING CRITERIA: Posters will be judged on their visual impact, over-all appealing effect, and applicability to the theme, neatness, creativity, and originality.
10a. For hand-drawn: each poster must be accompanied by the Student Information Form. Please TAPE the Form to the back of the poster.
10b. For digital: each entry must be accompanied by the Student Information Form. EMAIL the .jpg image and the Student Information Form TOGETHER to

11. Winning posters will be displayed on the AATSP Website and, showcased at the annual conference, and reprinted as necessary.
