El Bulín is a contemporary milonga that upholds the traditional codigos of Buenos Aires milongas.
*We encourage the method of mutual invitation via mirada/cabeceo.
*We dance with a warm, respectful embrace.
*We follow the line of dance, in a counter-clockwise direction, and navigate with attention to our surroundings.
*We keep our feet close to the floor to avoid hitting other dancers or tables.
*We are adults enjoying each other’s company in an intimate space while respecting each other’s personal boundaries.
*We keep talking to a minimum while dancing. The time between songs and tandas is a great time to catch up with or to get to know your partner.
*We cultivate respect, generosity and pleasure for all tangueras y tangueros.
There is no teaching during this milonga.

About Ted Berry:
Ted Berry started dating tango in June 2013. She moved in with him in April 2014. She has taken over way more than half of his closets while continuously conspiring to empty his wallet.
About Vanessa Tran:
Vanessa Tran took her first lesson in June 2013. It took a little over a year for the tango obsession to kick in full force in October 2014 when she connected with a group of tango fanatics, who are now part of her tango family and community. Since then she has been on an exhilarating and endless tango journey of self-discovery, connection, friendship, dance and musicality.
About "El Bulín"
The name was inspired after "El Bulín" from the famous tango: "El Bulín de la Calle Ayacucho" written by Celedonio Esteban Flores. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqZLI1Y1tg0
"A bulín was an apartment that a group of young friends would rent in order to get away from their parents. This tango is about a real bulín on Ayacucho 1443 that was rented by lyricist Celedonio Flores. His group of friends met there every Friday but broke up at the end of 1921 when Flores got a girlfriend; the tango was written more than a year later.
"The lyric describes the simple but happy times in the bulín, with a primus stove (for making mate) and a guitar always at hand for music making."
