3rd Saturday Zandunga - Homecoming w/ Simona Ciampi
The Essentials
- 9:00pm Int. class w/ Simona Ciampi
Class title : The Embrace as Sacred Space - This is not a traditional tango class.
There will be no sequences to memorize, no footwork to perfect. Instead, we will explore the part of tango that technique alone cannot teach: the quality of genuine presence between two people.
Drawing on principles of somatic awareness and energetic connection, this class invites you to slow down, feel your partner, and discover what becomes possible when you stop thinking and start listening with your whole body.
Come ready to be still. Come ready to be curious. Come ready to be a little vulnerable.
- 10:00pm Dancing w/ DJ Ramu Pyreddy
- Medialunas w/ dulce de leche, sweet & savory snacks, and fresh fruit will be served;
- Class $20; Milonga $20
Bring your own bottle/cup for water.

About Simona
Simona is an experienced tango dancer known for her extraordinary ability to connect. She began her training in the United States with visiting Argentine teachers, and later traveled to Argentina to deepen her study at the source.
Today, she explores the intersection of tango with other movement and contemplative traditions, including the healing folk dances of Southern Italy, meditation, ecstatic dance, and somatic practices. Through this exploration, she investigates how these traditions can deepen presence, embodiment, and the quality of connection within the tango embrace.
Her teaching is grounded in a strong technical foundation shaped by the work of Virginia Pandolfi, Mariela Sametband, Corina Herrera, and Moira Castellano. From that foundation, she invites students to move beyond technique and into the felt experience of truly being with another person—listening, responding, and connecting through the embrace.

Capital Ballroom is a 5 min walk from Bethesda Metro Station on the Red line and is easily accessed from the Beltway with plenty of street parking in Bethesda entertainment district.
