Good News! Eric LeBaron of the Bonneville Shores District has mapped all of the campsites listed. Go to

 https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=z_wn3xnsoHgg.kbSWjrtTxHls&usp=sharing to see the map.

The top of each camp site and the summary list (top left) has the driving time from central Davis County or the Kaysville/Farmington area, the distance to hike if any and a $ if there is a fee or a $/0 if it has both fee and non-fee areas and a T if  it might be suitable for winter camping. You can (usually) click on the photos to make them larger.

Please help by sending me write-ups on additional camp sites or corrections at caldwell77@digis.net.

Note on weather: If you want to avoid rain or snow when the forecast is bad, your chances are much better west of Grantsville where you don't have the lake effect. I have had many dry nights when the Wasatch Front was experiencing bad weather. Some good options are Lone Rock, Horseshoe Springs, White Rocks and the Knolls. It is often very windy on Stansbury Island.

See you at camp!

Free Stuff:

Locate lost scouts. Check out 'Radio Telemetry Units' at the GSL council office.  You only have to pay for new batteries. The unit includes wires that scouts wear around their necks and a locating unit.

Free fishing for your scout outings any time if you have the correct form.  See: https://www.saltlakescouts.org/files/16535/Fishing-Exemption---Youth-Organizations-pdf or

http://blog.myscoutstuff.org/2013/04/fishing-license-exemptions-for-youth-organizations-in-utah/. The first or second Saturday in June is usually a free fishing day in Utah. Utah state parks passes can be checked out at Davis County public libraries (if not already checked out), but is only for day use and not camping.

There are free entrance days for some National Parks, but doesn't include camping fees. See http://www.nps.gov/findapark/feefreeparksbystate.htm for parks included and dates.

By the way, this site is free and the majority of the camping spots listed are free as well.
