Baer Canyon

¼ hr + ½ hr hike

This is a great canyon with a creek and several small areas for camping and a well maintained trail. But, there aren't any large camping sites.

Go east on Nichols Rd from highway 89 in Fruit Heights to the end and turn left on Mountain Rd then right on East Oaks Dr and then left on 1800 East and at the end there is a small cul-de-sac with a steep driveway on the right that goes up to a small parking lot. Park there and the trail-head starts on the north side of the parking lot. About ½ mile up before the first bridge there are a couple small campsites for a few people right off the trail. About another ¼ mile up past the bridge is a better campsite off the left side of the trail for about 7 people and there is a smaller site for couple more people just across the trail and down a bit. There is another good spot 50 yards further up (or .9 miles from the parking lot), take the fork that goes right. Just past this site along the creek above that site and there are some more small sites and a nice place to play in the creek below a little waterfall. There are a couple more smaller sites further up the main trail that aren’t very level and you might get your feet wet crossing the creek to get there.
